By abiodun KOMOLAFE   Legacy “I want to be remembered as a governor who always tells the truth. I don’t lie! My goal is to live in the hearts of Ekiti people, and I believe the key to achieving this is by staying connected with them and implementing policies that positively impact their lives. Ultimately, I aspire to be remembered as a governor who brought prosperity to our people, one who demonstrated responsible and responsive leadership. “Chief Obafemi Awolowo is remembered more for his revolutionary policies, such as Free Education, than for symbols like Cocoa House. To me, substance always trumps symbols. While constructing bridges and buildings is important, they must resonate with the people to have a lasting impact. This is why I’m committed to sustaining the agricultural revolution in Ekiti, empowering our youths to earn a responsible living. “Interestingly, we’re renovating most of Awolowo’s Farm Settlements in the state, which were built decades ago. It’s remarkab...

From the Archives! A Birthday Prayer to Abiodun Komolafe | adekkatv

Image
By abiodun KOMOLAFE From the seeming endless valleys of travails; to the promising heights of triumphs, December 24 affords me a rare opportunity to reflect on the journey of my life so far. It is also an avenue to envision the fortunes, hopes and desires of a future that holds great promise. It is no doubt a period to ponder, especially the physical thistles and the psychological hardness of a journey of life which, in many instances, has attempted to dilute my faith; and to speak to the time to come with the certitude of fun and cheer.  As I celebrate another year of life, I am reminded of the importance of gratitude and appreciation. It is a time to reflect on those who have positively impacted my life, and I am grateful for their presence. One person who comes to mind is my late grandmother, Ajiweda Ola Komolafe, whose strength, skill, and tireless efforts helped shape me into the person I am today. Grandma did her best for me and I remain eternally grateful! And, to my ...

Osun 2026: Crossroads and consequences (1) | adekkatv

Image
By abiodun KOMOLAFE My experience as a Branch Internal Auditor in a now-consolidated commercial bank during the 2000s taught me the importance of accountability and oversight in institutions. In this role, I identified exceptions, assessed their impact, and recommended corrective actions. This skillset has since informed my understanding of the need for transparency and accountability in governance and political institutions.  Akinwumi Olojo, my former Line Boss and the bank’s Chief Internal Auditor, would often remind us that a governor paying salaries is merely fulfilling his contractual obligation to the electorate. “Thanking him for doing his job,” he’d say, “is akin to praising a student for attending school.” At a time like this, Olojo’s aphorism, “Delayed or defaulted salaries are symptoms of institutional distress”, readily comes to mind. This adage underscores the critical role Internal Auditors play in ensuring organizational accountability, efficiency and good gov...
