The Young Medical Laboratory Scientists Forum (YMLSF), FCT Branch, led by its Chairman, MLS. Stephanie Omoarebun, recently paid a landmark courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister for Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande Wisdom.
In a letter signed by the branch General Secretary, MLS Chukwu Charles Ebubechukwu and received by adekkatv correspondence in Federal Capital territory, the visit emphasize on making policies to bring impact on the youth, it goes thus;
"The visit was held at the Minister's office which represents a strategic step towards fostering impactful collaboration to advance youth development, professional excellence, and national transformation.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DISCUSSION
The visit focused on addressing critical issues affecting young medical laboratory scientists. Key areas discussed include:
1. Youth Employment Opportunities
The Forum highlighted the challenges of unemployment among young professionals in the medical field, proposing job placement schemes and skill building initiatives tailored to their needs.
2. Funding and Entrepreneurship Support
YMLSF advocated for government-backed grants and youth-focused entrepreneurship funds to empower young healthcare professionals, ensuring they have the resources to lead impactful projects and ventures.
3. Mentorship and Capacity Building
The Forum emphasized the importance of mentorship programs and proposed partnerships with industry leaders to provide career guidance and foster leadership development.
4. Leadership Development and Policy Advocacy
Discussions also addressed the need for greater youth representation in policy making, ensuring young professionals play a significant role in shaping the nation’s future" he concluded.
The Minister, Hon. Ayodele Olawande Wisdom commended the YMLSF FCT Branch for its dedication to youth empowerment and professional growth. He expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gifts presented, acknowledging them as a gesture of respect and collaboration.
The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to creating opportunities for young Nigerians, emphasizing that youth development is a cornerstone of national progress. MLS Chukwu Charles Ebubechukwu further sated that, several resolutions were reached during the visit, including:
- Collaborating on strategic youth employment programs and capacity building projects.
- Aligning specific initiatives with the Ministry’s strategic framework through follow up engagements.
- Co-creating mentorship programs that integrate leadership and professional development for young medical laboratory scientists.
- Initiating discussions with the Federal Ministry of Health and FCT Mandate Secretaries for Health and Youth to explore employment opportunities and equitable pay structures.
